Divine heartbeats

Just before the beginning of Lent, I stumbled upon a virtual Lenten gathering my home parish’s contemplative prayer group is hosting. We are reading and meditating on poems by Mary Oliver together. So far both weeks have been incredibly nourishing, offering an intentional, peaceful space to listen and share in community. Last week our poem was Wild Geese, a powerful poem exploring identity. During my contemplative listening, I kept feeling an affirmation that I know the way home… my heart knows the way home. It moved me deeply, and this poem reflects the love and encouragement I feel lighting my way this week.
Divine heartbeats
My heart knows the way home-each beat inviting me into truth and love.
Expanding my horizon far beyond any dream I could imagine.
The dream of my divine heart is vast and deep.
She is rich and creative.
Loving and kind.
In this gentle glow, I welcome my truth with grace-sharing boldly a story of becoming.
A story of struggle and resilience.
A story of brokenness and a path of healing.
With the wide, wakening eyes of my heart, I march forward in a hallowed light.
How is your heart this week? Where might it be leading you?
