What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is a time to intentionally discover and tend the inner wisdom of the heart. As a spiritual director, I cultivate sacred space while listening to the stories and experiences you bring to our sessions, offering insights to accompany you in exploring what’s present and alive in your heart and life.
Each session is unique to you and what you’re experiencing in a given life season and session. You do not have to identify as religious to participate in spiritual direction. My definition of spirituality encompasses how your lived experiences reflect your values and beliefs. This is an open and affirming space, and I welcome individuals from the LGBTQ+ and queer community who feel drawn to spiritual direction to contact me.
We generally meet once a month for about an hour over Zoom or by phone. Cost of a spiritual direction session is $80-$100 per session, with a sliding scale of $50 available as needed.* Payments are accepted via Zelle, Venmo, check or cash at the time of our session unless otherwise arranged.
If you’re interested in learning more about spiritual direction with me, please fill out the get in touch section below, and we’ll schedule a time to discuss your hopes for spiritual direction.
*I’m deeply grateful for your generosity, and would be glad to discuss with you any questions, considerations, or concerns about cost that you may have.
Spiritual directors are ethically bound to confidentiality. This ensures that directees feel safe and are able to share their deepest feelings and most important life experiences. There are, however, some important exceptions to keep in mind.:
I am required by law to report any and all suspected child abuse, dependent adult or elder abuse. Under OH law, I must notify the appropriate authorities immediately if and when I suspect a minor, dependent or elder is being abused.
If a directee is threatening serious bodily harm to another person or persons, I must notify the police and the intended victim.
If a directee is in danger of committing suicide, I will make every effort to get that directee to safety.
Supervision:
Additionally, as a spiritual director I work periodically with an experienced spiritual direction supervisor who will help me become a better spiritual director. In supervision, no names or specific identifying characteristics are shared.
Some general content from a session may be shared so that I may learn more about myself and grow as a spiritual director. The content in the case studies I present to my Supervisor is kept in the loop of confidentiality.
I receive supervision on a quarterly basis.
Directees, however, are not bound by any code of confidentiality. They are free to share anything from our sessions with another person.
Tending the heart’s wise, wild grace.
