What are you finding yourself truly grateful for this year? What does home mean for you? How can you cultivate and connect with what home means this season?

This year the holidays are going to look unlike anything many of us have ever experienced before. Gatherings are sure to be smaller than years past, if they happen at all. Many us will be experiencing grief and loss. Amidst our grief and loss, how does this year’s season invite us to consider what we are truly, deeply grateful for? What ways can we cultivate and connect to what home means for us? This last question has been on my heart a lot recently, as I look toward re-creating my own home space. I was reminded of this poem I wrote last year after I was confirmed in my church. Revisiting it has caused me to reframe what understanding and celebrating home means this year. May it be a source of comfort and inspiration for you, as well.

To be home
Heart beaming

spirit soaring

she follows her path

to love

home

joy seeks the soul

heart beating

breath soothing

legs dancing

home

sun shining

birds singing

breeze guiding me

home

together we praise

life

love

at home

where we are welcome

to be

ourselves

as we are

around the table

nourishing, being

together

hearts beaming

hearts grieving

hearts beating

together

at home

our paths merge

creating community

so we may be

and always find and follow

love.
