Summer Stars

My summer was full of moments that took me by surprise. Some of these surprises came from within myself. They were moments when I felt more reserved than I expected, and moments when I let go and deviated from my plans. As I look back on the wonder from this season, I am struck by how in spite of it all I remained rooted in my heart and grace abounded. This poem was born from reflecting on this: acknowledging the shy and claiming my wild heart. Creating this poem was a joy; it too surprised me with its beauty.
Shy Stars
Belovedness shines through shy hearts.
Like stars of the night,
Each detail dazzles
Illuminating the beauty within.
Memories that mold
Wax and wane from day to day
Calling forth a moonglow of living.
Tides of joy and grief,
Waves of love and loss
Rise and fall
With the timid, twinkling present.
A constellation of
Humanity and harmony
Swirls together
Revealing how
Wholeness is sanctified with wonder.
